The Kentucky Geological Survey and Center for Applied Energy Research at the University of Kentucky joined together to host the Eastern Unconventional Oil & Gas Symposium in 2014 -- the 2018 meeting has been canceled. Information about the next meeting is TBD.. EUOGS targets a broad range of upstream and downstream issues related to energy production from emerging resources. Successful development of unconventional oil and gas resources relies on expertise from a number of disciplines, regulatory frameworks, and environmental topics including:

  • Upstream: leasing, horizontal drilling, fracture stimulation, regulations, water issues, induced seismicity, geology, and related topics
  • Midstream: compression, processing, pipelines, and similar issues
  • Downstream: regulated utilities, natural gas vehicles, sustainability, petrochemicals, environmental impacts, and other focus areas
